3D scanning service expands to mobile fleet
Our 3D scanning team is now equipped with mobile rigs — bringing high-precision plant capture directly to your casthouse, anywhere in Europe.
What the mobile fleet changes
Until now, plant capture meant planning scans around a central team. With mobile rigs, high-precision laser scanning of existing plants comes directly to your site — for retrofit planning, as-built documentation, point-cloud models, and clash-aware engineering.
«As-built point clouds that anchor new fabrications to the real geometry on site.»
Scan positions are planned around production access; targets and survey control are placed before capture starts. Scans are registered against control, noise and moving objects removed, and the cloud delivered in engineering formats — with typical single-point accuracy of ± 2 mm on relevant plant distances.
Typical deliverables
- Registered point cloud in e57, rcp or las — ready for CAD review and engineering use
- Cleaned mesh and surface geometry for visualisation, VR walkthroughs and stakeholder review
- Retrofit-zone CAD modelled from the scan — sized to the engineering need, not the entire plant
- Scan-position map, accuracy summary and coverage notes for the project record
A 3D scan recovers documentation that was never recorded or lost over time — and becomes the basis for planning new work against measured reality.
